What are some books that have strong heroines as their main characters?

The Women's Murder Club is pretty decent. The situations are pretty realistic. After about the fourth book however I got tired of them. *shrugs*. Everything else I read (with strong heroines) tend to be paranormal. I like the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Mysteries by Charlaine Harris; The Undead Series by MaryJanice Dickenson; The Anita Blake Series by Laurel K. Hamilton (lots of intimacy often in groups with a little bloodshed, plenty violent but Anita is power to the highest; And The Succubus Series by Richele Mead; oh and I recently picked up the Magic Inc. series by Shanna Swedson which is sort of like a magic version of Stephanie Plum.
