If a girl from the US went to the UK to marry her fiance could she easily find work once she was living there?

I also believe the marriage visa would be the most effective. My daughter went to college in England for a couple of years and she could never get (or didn't try hard enough to get) a work visa so she couldn't work there at all. She said the visas are very limited to protect employment opportunities for British citizens which is as it should be.
