Does the Federal Government hold too much sway?

Yes. The constitution gives the federal government the right to protect our rights, period. Everything else should be left to our states. The federal reserve, the department of education, the CIA, the war on drugs, welfare, medicare, medicaid are all violations of the constitution. Any program not called the military, on the federal level, is a crime according to the constitution.
