Was the American left in any way daunted by the assassinations of King, Malcolm X, and the Kennedies?

The American people both sides were crazy about the Kennedy's . there was no left or right only central and state rights then. American were sadden at the death of J F Kennedy and especially the deaths of his brother Robert Kennedy and DR. king so soon afterwards. Many were shocked by Malcon X's death because it underscored the amount of violence in the US at that time.
