Want to start reading X-Men, but where do I start?

A good starting point would probably be in the mid 80s, around the days of future past story line, or even the Phoenix Saga, although I believe that was in the 70s. I personally would say start at issue 1, because it is a fun read, but the dialogue in the 60s and 70s is a bit much. The 80s is when it got very interesting. X-MEN #1 FROM 1991 Is another good starting point. Bot time frames have some of the fan favorites, Gambit, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Wolverine as prominent characters. And the 90s had some amazing story acs.
